Meditation & Kath
Meditation helps to calm the mind and body by sitting or moving slowly in silence.
A word from Kath:
I have practised meditation regularly for over twenty years, both daily and on many week-long silent retreats, and I am a qualified meditation teacher.
I began in order to reduce the stress of leadership roles in the public sector and thirty-five years of community activism.
The time came for me to become more still, and cultivate the joy and inner peace that can come from meditation
Meditation can be an antidote to anxiety, depression, stress and agitation, with scientifically proven benefits to our health and well-being.
It helps us to relax, and to come to terms with the past and the future, helping us to fully live in the present moment.
Meditation For All
You can become a hard core meditator, with straight back, cross-legged on the floor in the lotus position, and following the breath diligently, remaining in position for hours. Whilst Kath is proficient in these methods, her passion is teaching meditation that anyone can relate to and practice, no matter who or where you are or your personal circumstances.
We do not have to be in a temple, we can be in a local hall, workplace, or our own home, sitting on chairs and simply giving ourselves some peace and quiet.

The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world and am free.
